Genus and similar species information

This Old World genus comprises five species and possibly is related to the Oriental genera Indusiothrips and Isunidothrips (Mound & Marullo 1996). The lateral thirds of abdominal tergites of Dendrothripoides species exhibit many stout, dentate microtrichia, and the pronotum bears one pair of posteroangular setae. D. innoxius is the only species of this genus reported from the Americas.

World distribution

Described from Indonesia, it is now widespread in the Oriental and Pacific regions. It is also recorded from Central and South America.
