Diagnosis

Species not studied on the current work. Body brown, with antennal segments III–V mainly yellow. Metanotum with equiangular reticulation with internal markings. Tergite V laterally with about 20 transverse striae, bearing numerous microtrichia.

 

Male not studied.

 

Intraspecific variation

Not recorded.

 

Genus and similar species information

This Neotropical genus comprises ten species, all with antennae 9-segmented and the male pore plate placed on the antecostal area of abdominal sternite III. Another species recorded from Brazil, E. flavens, can be distinguished from E. fuscus by the absence of internal markings on the metanotal reticules and antenna being fully brown. A key to Enneothrips species is available in Vieira et al. (2024).

Originally collected from dead leaves and twigs, but probably lives on leaves
