Species with dark-brown body colouration, antennal segment II with lateral asymmetric projection, head produced anteriorly to compound eyes, with 14 or more pairs of short conical setae on vertex. Similar setae present on mesonotum, metanotum and anterior abdominal tergites. Fore femora with a pair of stout distal setae. Females with circular pore plates on sternites III–VI.

Genus and similar species information
The genus Oelschlaegera is currently composed by 4 species that live in grasses and are recorded on the African continent and Iran. It is closely related to the genus Chirothrips, being differentiated from it by the conical shape of the setae covering the body, a higher number of setae on head, presence of a pair of stout distal setae on anterior femora, and sternites with a broad transverse posterior flange.Oelschlaegera priesneri is the only species of the genus described for Brazil, and differs from the other species by the presence of pore plates on sternites III–VI of females.
