Body colour yellow to yellowish brown; antennal segments II–VIII brown; fore wings weakly shaded. Head with many lines of sculpture and three pairs of ocellar setae. Antennae 8-segmented, III & IV with forked sense cones. Pronotum rectangular, transversely striate and with one pair of long posteroangular setae and tree pairs of posteromarginals. Mesothoracic endofurca with spinula well developed but absent on metathorax. Metanotum with irregular reticulation posteromedially; paired campaniform sensilla absent; two pairs of setae, median pair arising behind anterior margin. Tarsi 2-segmented. Fore wing with first setal row interrupted but second row complete. Abdominal tergites with median setae long and close together; tergite VIII with a complete comb of microtrichia. Sternites without discal microtrichial rows or discal setae. Both sexes fully winged.
Male without pore plates on sternites.

Genus and similar species information
The Neotropical genus Scirtidothrips is comprised only by this species, which is very similar to Scirtothrips members, except that the abdominal tergites and sternites do not bear discal microtrichial rows.
World distribution
Described from Brazil, it is also recorded from Costa Rica.
