Diagnosis

Species not studied on the current work. Females macropterous, body covered by numerous setae dorsally and ventrally. Head projected in front of compound eyes; antennal segment I enlarged, wider than long, and segment II laterally produced. Sculpture on pronotum weak or absent. Lateral and submarginal setae on abdominal tergites subequal to median setae. Abdominal segments IX and X short, ovipositor short.

Male not studied.

Related and similar species

The New World genus Arorathrips includes about 15 species, all of them having antennal segment II strongly asymmetric, and segments III & IV with simple sense cones. It is closely related to Chirothrips but differs in having the mesothoracic endofurca reduced.
