Genus and similar species information

Adraneothrips is a diverse genus, with almost 80 valid species, widely distributed across tropical areas in the Americas and Asia. It has a lot of morphological variation and lacks a clear diagnosis, but most of the species included in the genus have the following characteristics: maxillary stylets with a bridge; pronotum with 5 pairs of well-developed setae and epimeral sutures complete; pelta longer than wide; both lateral sutures on abdominal tergites II–VII usually visible dorsally; fore wings with few duplicated cilia. Described from Clearwater, Florida USA. Recorded from Brazil and Trinidad.
