Species not studied on the current work. It is a yellow-bodied member of the genus, with a sharp-edged pedicel on antennal segment III and weak sculpture on the metanotum. Moreover, the posteromarginal comb on abdominal tergite VIII bears only few irregular teeth.
Males with transverse pore plates on sternites III–VII and small teeth on posteromarginal comb of microtrichia on abdominal tergite VIII.

Genus and similar species information
Frankliniella is one of the largest genera amongst Thysanoptera, comprising more than 160 described species. About 90% of the species are from the Neotropics and their taxonomy is usually complex. Almost all members have 8-segmented antennae, three pairs of ocellar setae and fore wing with both rows of setae complete. About 40 species are recorded from Brazil, and almost half of these were described from this country. The antennal segment III of Frankliniella piauhyensis exhibits a characteristic sharp-edged pedicel, which is similar to that one showed by F. caseariae (Lima & Miyasato 2017). However, the posteromarginal comb on tergite VIII of F.piauhyensis bears few and sparse teeth.
Phytophagous; adults and larvae collected on Senna obtusifolia flowers (Fabaceae).
Economic importance
