Species not studied on the current work. Body brown, including fore wings, but these are slightly paler in basal quarter. The head lacks postocular setae pair i and the metanotal campaniform sensilla is absent. Female abdominal sternite II bears one or two discal setae and sternite III has a pair of small circular pore plates.
Males have sternite II with two discal setae and sternites III–VII with broad transverse pore plates.

Genus and similar species information
Frankliniella is one of the largest genera amongst Thysanoptera, comprising more than 160 described species. About 90% of the species are from the Neotropics and their taxonomy is usually complex. Almost all members have 8-segmented antennae, three pairs of ocellar setae and fore wing with both rows of setae complete. About 40 species are recorded from Brazil, and almost half of these were described from this country. Females of Frankliniella catharinensis is unusual in bearing discal setae on abdominal sternite II and two small circular pore plates on anterior third of sternite III.
