Life history

Phytophagous species apparently associated only to Alternanthera philoxeroides (Amaranthaceae) leaves. The life cycle of this thrips is described in detail by Maddox & Mayfield (1979). 

Economic importance

Released in the USA for the biological control of the aquatic weed Alternanthera philoxeroides.
